it sometimes takes close to 7 seconds to load the data the first time!
Years ago, i had an idea about mapping (or 'rendering') at once all the runs/walks/bike rides I'd tracked in Strava (click to zoom to that view)
it was interesting to me, so I kept tracking in Strava all of my bicycle rides (around Golden, CO), and then I kept tracking my travels when I got my gasoline-powered, 'asian style' scooter, years ago and several living places ago.
So, what started as tracking some running I was doing for a race, grew to include biking, and then I got a scooter (I call it an 'asian-style' scooter, not at all like the e-scooters common in the USA ) and started scooting all over the place. I've written about it a little here
this vehicle is extremely common, the default in some parts of the world, and I have felt my own mobility and access grow by like 10x, using this vehicle instead of a car or a bicycle. This map maybe contributes some explanation or evidence of some of why I feel that way. There's views you can find of my data all over the world. once the data's loaded, zoom way out
It's collected via the Strava app, and then I've fetched bits of that data from their API, and am rendering it all at once on this map.I no longer live in Golden, but originally enjoyed the pac-man-like sense of 'filling in' an increasingly large amount of the street network.
green lines are newer. blue is medium-old. red is oldest, from feels-like-many years ago. There's exceptions to this coloring, probably.
